مع انتشار الطرز المعمارية المختلفة خاصة الکلاسيکية منها بشکل ملحوظ بالوحدات السکنية في التجمعات السکنية الجديدة، تناقش الورقة البحثية مقررات تاريخ العمارة-بقسم العمارة- وعلاقتها بالتصميم المعماري، وذلک بهدف الوقوف على مدى فاعليتها من حيث المحتوى وأسلوب التدريس في تدعيم وتنمية قدرات الطالب التصميمية للطرز المختلفة؛ ومن خلال عمل استقصاء ومقابلات مفتوحة مع عينة من الطلاب شاملة الأربع فرق الدراسية للعام 2017-2018- والموضحة في منهج البحث- وتحليل البيانات المجمعة بواسطة اختباري تحليل التباين الأحادي (ANOVA) ومربع کاي (chi square) لمعرفة إذا ما کان هناک علاقة بين المقررات الدراسية ودرجة تفضيل الطرز التصميمية، أثبت البحث أن تدريس مقررات تاريخ العمارة بجرعتها النظرية وأهدافها وطرق تدريسها لا تأثير لها على المهارات التصميمية للطلاب، وبالاستفادة من التغيير الحالي في اللائحة الدراسية لمرحلة البکالوريوس بکلية الهندسة في جامعة عين شمس ورغبة في تعديل تلک المقررات من حيث تعزيز أساليب التعليم المستخدمة في المناهج والهادفة لملافاة هذا القصور؛ اقترح البحث إعادة تقسيم ساعات مقررات تاريخ العمارة لإضافة فصول دراسية بجانب المحاضرات، وذلک لإلحاق استراتيجية التعليم القائم على المشروعات وحل المشکلات لتدريب الطلاب على استخدام الطرز المختلفة في المشاريع المتعددة. With the spread of different architectural styles, especially the classic ones, notably in residential units in the new residential communities, the paper discusses the courses concerned with the history of architecture – in the Department of Architecture – and their relation to architectural design, to determine the effectiveness of the content and teaching method upon strengthening and developing the student's design skills of different styles. Questionnaires and interviews were carried out with a sample of students, including the four years' students of 2017-2018 – as explained in the research methodology. Also, analysis of the data collected by ANOVA and chi-square tests were done to see if there is a relationship between the courses and the degree of desirability of the design styles. The research proved that teaching history of architecture with its theoretical syllabus, objectives, and methods of teaching does not affect the design skills of the students. Thus benefiting from the current modification of the undergraduate bylaw at the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, which aims to enhance the teaching methods applied to the curriculum, to overcome this deficiency, this research suggested re-dividing the hours of architecture history courses to add tutorials to lectures, to implement teaching strategies built on projects and problem solving, with the aim of training students to use different styles in various projects.
